Oh Holy Night
10/19/2014
Jeff Norbert Wyatt
MY CHRISTMAS GUITAR is a contemporary approach to some popular Christmas favorites, with an obvious emphasis on guitar as the featured instrument. Electric and acoustic, finger-style and slide; the guitar playing styles vary, but the BLUES influence is evident. The works are all adaptations and arrangements of Christmas carols and songs from the Public Domain. The album begins with an electric blues slide guitar instrumental version of John Wesley Work Jr’s GO TELL IT ON THE MOUNTAIN, along with upright bass and drums accompaniment. And once again the album concludes with a vocal arrangement of this same song. While WHAT CHILD IS THIS and AULD LANG SYNE are given a more traditional acoustic finger-style approach, and CHRISTMAS GUITAR MEDLEY maintains a ragtime blues acoustic finger style (somewhat similar to Big Bill Broozy), we hear more electric slide blues guitar (and even some vocal) in SILENT NIGHT. OH CHRISTMAS TREE is what might happen when you combine open tuned electric blues guitar with classical piano. It might be the captured result of Ry Cooder and Wolfgang Mozart casually drinking a few friendly beers and jamming in the studio, while unknown to them the engineer had pressed “record”. OH HOLY NIGHT (previously released by Jeff as a single for Christmas 2013) and THE FIRST NOEL have a different, but still bluesy electric feel due to Jeff’s use of a Fender Stratocaster, bringing to mind some of the ballad laden riffs of Jimi Hendrix and Mark Knopfler. Orchestral accompaniment adds a colorful backdrop to both of these tracks while the Stratocaster overlays it’s prominent brush strokes.

Good Morning, School Girl
11/08/2015
Jeff Norbert Wyatt
This is my rendition of Sonny Boy Williamson 1st's 1937 country/blues song "Good Morning, School Girl", recorded here simply with vocal, electric guitar, upright bass and drums. Sonny Boy's original 1937 song is in the public domain. It was recorded with vocal, acoustic guitar and harmonica. My recording is the closest version I've heard to date matching that original version. This is a preview track that will be included on my upcoming album "Rolled Tumbled and Torn".

Oh Holy Night

Jeff Norbert Wyatt
Jeff's electric guitar instrumental rendition OH HOLY NIGHT is a fresh approach to this beautiful Christmas classic. He presents his blues influenced guitar technique over a colorfully textured symphonic backdrop for your Christmas Holiday enjoyment. Another suitable description for this recording could easily be "OH HOLY NIGHT - For Stratocaster and Orchestra". Wikipedia describes the history of this beautiful Christmas carol as follows: ""O Holy Night" ("Cantique de Noël") is a well-known Christmas carol composed by Adolphe Adam in 1847 to the French poem "Minuit, chrétiens" (Midnight, Christians) by Placide Cappeau (1808–1877). Cappeau, a wine merchant and poet, had been asked by a parish priest to write a Christmas poem. Unitarian minister John Sullivan Dwight, editor of Dwight's Journal of Music, created a singing edition based on Cappeau's French text in 1855. In both the French original and in the two familiar English versions of the carol, the text reflects on the birth of Jesus and of humanity's redemption."

Max and the Squirrel
08/04/2011
Jeff Norbert Wyatt
'MAX AND THE SQUIRREL' is the story of a beloved dog who especially loved chasing squirrels. The story is "told" as a guitar instrumental with percussion and upright bass accompaniment. To add to the fun of the upbeat music, Max's bark is interspersed within the tune. Max has the final say at the conclusion of the track. The overall musical style is a mix of finger-style jazz guitar, classical guitar with World Fusion rhythms.

Jeff Norbert Wyatt Mike Brian Reilly ,
From the Jeff Wyatt album: Wanted (Soundtrack to Mike Reilly's "Tumbleweed") (writers and rights holders: Jeff Wyatt and Mike Reilly) Mike wrote the lyrics, Jeff the music. Here’s the sad story of a broken hearted cowboy who, after spending what he thought was a meaningful, romantic night in a room upstairs at the Tumbleweed Hotel, awakes to find himself all alone. His mind is filled with a thousand questions as to why this beauty left him in the dark of the night. It’s the Tumbleweed script that actually provides the answer to this question. We won’t spoil it for you here, but it may involve the Mexican bandito from track 11. Canadian west coast comedy scriptwriter MIKE REILLY of Canamera Entertainment (Radio Comedy Shows) has created another gem to add to his growing repertoire of radio ready audio drama productions. This time it’s built on a cowboy western theme, entitled TUMBLEWEED; a fictional Wild West frontier town complete with colorful period characters. Every movie or audio drama deserves a corresponding musical soundtrack. With this in mind, Mike hired Jeff to create suitable music for this fun Wild West production and "Wanted (Soundtrack to Mike Reilly’s “Tumbleweed”)" was thus conceived.

Heaven Knows
05/31/2014
(writers and rights holders: Michael B. Reilly and Michael Vincent) HEAVEN KNOWS is a song that was presented as a demo recording by Vancouver writers Michael B. Reilly and Michael Vincent to guitarist/singer/songwriter Jeff Wyatt to arrange, record and produce with his own particular blues flavor. Co-writer Michael Vincent worked with Jeff to arrange the outro backup vocals in the final 2 minutes of the song, where you can hear the 2 of them singing 3 part harmony; Michael, twice in the high registers (Left and right) and Jeff in the low (middle of the mix). Co-Writer Michael B. Reilly of CANAMERA ENTERTAINMENT GROUP had included Jeff’s final production of HEAVEN KNOWS as the final track on his TUMBLEWEED album. Permission was also graciously granted by the two co-writers (Mike and Mike) for Jeff to release his production of HEAVEN KNOWS as a single on his own Cardboard Alley Music record label. There is an apparent dichotomy between the music and the lyrics of HEAVEN KNOWS. The music is sad and the guitar expresses a tension (almost like another human voice singing the song) but the thoughtful lyrics have brilliance and hope, which is something love always gives. The basic structure of the song is 12 bar blues, although this is not necessarily apparent to the listener because of the breaks, accents and the various instruments popping in and out throughout the song. The only departure from the strict 12 bar structure is the short intro and the extended outro on the “one” chord.
