Disaster strikes when a rental agent's corrupt assistant deliberately overbooks the same luxury villa to 3 separate families online, then disappears with her commissions. The villa was the cheapest in the company’s selection, but client satisfaction is key to owner Martine, who is proud of her high ratings online. So, when she discovers her assistant´s treachery just after taking a business class seat on a plane bound for her own overseas vacation, she immediately disembarks.
Figuring how to handle these average middle class Dutch families, who are nonetheless quite high maintenance and relentlessly demanding, requires all her strengths, contacts, patience, and a good glass of cognac at 2am. It´s 7 days of pure hell as she juggles 3 families in another villa that can only fit two, handling their petty squabbles arising at time from their temperamental natures, unhealthy husband, wife, and partner swapping, senseless paintballing of the car of the family they hate, and one disaster after another with staff she must rely on to keep these people happy and any potential bad reviews off line.
What’s Maxime’s secret?
And is she able to get in her business seat again at the end of the movie and actually go on her much-deserved location?
You´ll have to see The Rental to find out.
