About the work
William of Orange travels through time from 1672 to present day Holland, where he meets the current King Willem Alexander and his family whom he takes for inposters and a threat to his rule. Meanwhile he falls in love with King Willem Alexander's heir and oldest daughter. Though the royal family is at first amused that the thinks he is actually the real William of Orange, incensed William decides to kidnap the royal family and take them back in time with him to prove who he is. Convinced, the royal family still sees him as young, impetuous and impulsive, and perhaps he has been denied his crown by anti-royalists and the French, who've invaded Holland and marginalized William, because of Willam does not know how to lead. They convince him to return to the future, where they will give him the tough love and training he needs to return to where he came from and become the king he should be. Along the way, Willem Alexander´s eldest daughter Amalia, who will one day be Queen, learns herself what it means to lead as an effective and much loved monarch.
