About the work
(Verse 1)
The summit is a memory in my calves.
A farewell in coiled steel.
Grey wool cradles the sun, a muted jewel.
I commit to the descent.
The chain’s whisper is a mantra I forgot I knew.
This road is a long, curling question
And I am the only answer coming down.
(Chorus)
Down. Into the throat of the atmosphere.
Down. Where the pines exhale ghosts.
My wheels are stitching the earth to the sky.
A fleeting seam.
I am the temporary needle.
Down.
(Verse 2)
Clouds are not shrouds here.
They are lenses. They soften the edge of the world.
The yellow line bleeds under my shadow.
Wind, a cold sculptor, presses against my chest.
I am aerodynamic with longing.
Past the guardrails, the valley breathes—
A deep, indifferent sigh.
I am a particle in its vast, grey lung.
(Chorus)
Down. Into the throat of the atmosphere.
Down. Where the pines exhale ghosts.
My wheels are stitching the earth to the sky.
A fleeting seam.
I am the temporary needle.
Down.
(Bridge)
Cornering… gravity’s faithful disciple.
Leaning into the curve of the day.
The universe, in this moment, is a funnel.
And I… I am the liquid prayer
Draining towards some unknown center.
Brake pads kiss the rim—a soft, burning psalm.
Fog now. In the hairpin turns of thought.
The summit never existed.
The valley never waits.
There is only the turn, and the turn, and the turn…
And the beautiful, falling quiet.
Down… to where the flatland meets the sky
Down… to where the motion finally… is down
