We are born in a cage
a cage increasingly filled with objects and possibilities
and in that cage we grow and discover
we learn rules through punishments
and truths through lies
and then we teach our children
the same truths we learned
so if one day you open your eyes
breathe
and step out
and discover that your hands
were also made to fly with the wind
don’t expect anyone to believe you
nor blame anyone for not teaching you
the true place where you live
they don’t see the cage
maybe you don’t even see the cage
and you only hear what I’ve come to tell you
and you still don’t quite know
where or what to do with all these words
