In the heart of the Peruvian Andes, Leonela Labra, a young indigenous college student, emerges as a symbol of a new generation fighting for radical political change to bring justice and equality to her country and recognize its diversity. Their own existence.
After surviving brutal state repression during the 2022 protests, in which a popular movement called for early elections in the face of a corrupt government and congress, Leonela embarks on a journey of healing, memory, and empowerment.
This documentary portrays the political awakening and ancestral strength of a Kanawarmi—a K'ana warrior woman—determined to transform her pain into collective strength and lead a Peru where the right of indigenous peoples to exist and participate in politics is recognized.
