About the work
The game consists of several key activities designed to enhance media
literacy and teamwork among children. Specifically from three paths, each aimed
to deliver knowledge on the media literacy.
The first path begins with the introductory game.The second path is the main game. It is led by facilitators through a series of tasks to determine whether the news presented is factual or fake. Kids are divided into teams. For each team, the news card and corresponding task card are developed, with facilitators guiding the teams according to scenarios designed around these cards. Each task card, consisting of six tasks, is provided to the kids team leader and precisely outlines collaborative activities that guide the team in searching and analyzing key elements to determine whether the news is factual or fake.
This game is specifically designed to show the way of verifying news. We practice searching for and analyzing information –this is widely known to be pivotal steps of gaining media literacy skills. We start with source verification, by means of analyzing if it is trust worthy.
We aim to build upon the success of the game by expanding its scope to include additional pathways, engaging a broader and more diverse group of children, implementing the game in Greek, English, and other languages, and designing a hybrid educational architecture combining physical (board-based) and digital (app/AR/AI-driven) components.
