About the work
I didn't know what I could do,
but herbs could heal, and so I knew.
Our son was sick, I had to try,
but they condemned me with a lie.
The neighbor’s envy burned so bright,
they cursed our love, they feared our light.
They called me wicked, dark, untrue,
and took my heart away from you.
I watched you burn, I felt the pain,
then I followed, lost again.
But this was not our first goodbye,
nor the last time we would die.
We meet again, we try once more,
another time, another war.
Yet still, we fail to understand,
the lesson written in our hands.
You chose to run, you closed your heart,
afraid to lose, afraid to start.
I held the weight of every sin,
but love was burned into our skin.
I watched you burn, I felt the pain,
then I followed, lost again.
But this was not our first goodbye,
nor the last time we would die.
The neighbor’s envy, their bitter lies,
they feared our love, they feared the skies.
They called me witch, they took your hand,
and burned our dreams into the sand.
So, in this lifetime, we fail
again in full despair
and we try to win, and we lose
not knowing what to choose
what we should do.
We will say goodbye
and start again after we die....
