About the work

Elise, a sales agent for a major bottled water distributor, finds herself trapped in a downward spiral of exhaustion, addiction, and despair. While struggling to maintain her professional facade, her personal life crumbles under the weight of her drug dependency and the existential void she feels in her work. In a world where water, the most vital resource, has been hijacked by capitalism, Elise sells a product that mirrors her own feeling of entrapment: bottled water encased in plastic, consumed and discarded like any other commodity.

During a bottled water conference, the corporate presentation of a world of freshness and vitality distorts into a vision of ecological disaster and capitalist oppression. The brand logos dissolve into dried rivers and oceans choked with plastic, while Elise, seated among the chairs, tries to find solace in her addiction. But not even cocaine can silence the deafening noise of her mental collapse.

As reality and hallucination intertwine, Elise is forced to confront her own physical and emotional deterioration, as the water she sells symbolizes her own alienation and despair. In a world where every drop of water seems tainted by the system that exploits it, Elise searches for a release that seems unattainable.

A reflection on the exploitation of natural resources, the alienation of the individual within a consuming system, and the internal struggle of a woman who, like the water she sells, finds herself trapped and stripped of vitality.
