About the work
En esta obra exploro una experiencia grabada en mi memoria, busco exaltar la imagen de una madre de la comunidad Afro, raizal o palenquera de Colombia en un contexto urbano, hostil y aparente. Busco darle a "Dolores" que es como decidí llamarla, una imagen pura pero apegada a su contexto, quise también denotar el cuidado a su criatura quien solo pudiera estar absorto por todo a su alrededor.
Últimamente soy amigo de dejar mensajes contundentes en mis piezas y esta obra no es la diferencia, pues para imprimirme disciplina me informo de las estructuras sociales que me permean. De todo lo leído, de todo lo que me sirvió como inspiración para este argumento visual concluyo resaltando el aún desencuentro entre etnias, nación y estado. Como bien dijo el filósofo Ludwig Wittgenstein "Los limites de nuestro lenguaje son los limites de nuestro mundo." por esto la invitación es a no ignorar que entender y pensar esta limitado por el lenguaje que usamos, pues entonces basta de herir con la lengua a todo lo que nuestro cerebro no entienda.
In this work I explore an experience engraved in my memory, I seek to exalt the image of a mother from the Afro, Raizal or Palenquera community of Colombia in an urban, hostile and apparent context. I seek to give "Dolores" as I decided to call her, a pure image but attached to her context, I also wanted to denote the care for her child who could only be absorbed by everything around her.
Lately I am a friend of leaving strong messages in my pieces and this work is no different, because to give myself discipline I inform myself of the social structures that permeate me. From everything I have read, from everything that served as inspiration for this visual argument, I conclude by highlighting the still disagreement between ethnicities, nation and state. As the philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein said "The limits of our language are the limits of our world." This is why the invitation is to not ignore that understanding and thinking is limited by the language we use, so then stop hurting with your tongue everything that your brain does not understand.
