About the work
Irene Ballesteros has created the "Arctic Model", which is the core issue on her PhD Thesis where Irene explains how to defuse tensions in Ukraine and in other regions in conflict by applying the Arctic Model which stands for finding a interest linked to the environment common to all actors involved in a conflict process and organizing a track system in order to foster dialogue. If the model works in the Arctic region it could help resume dialogue in Ukraine and perhaps in other regions, like Middle East where the Israelo-palestinian conflict is still very alive. In this latter conflict the common interest to explore would be the management of natural resources, namely the management of water resources.
