After the mountain men returned to their compound with their new member, woman War Chief Dahteste, she and Levi make themselves a home. His new woman is so beautiful that all the mountain men fall head over heels for the new addition.
Rusty Steel feels like he’s getting old. If he were a young man, he would have been the one out looking for new streams and ponds to trap beaver and not Levi Johnson and Will Forrester. He sets out on his own to prove to himself he still has the stuff it takes to live in the wilderness.
A black furry canine makes Rusty’s acquaintance, and the two make a duo as they hunt for a mountain lion on the prowl. That and a pack of rabid wolves. Will they survive in the wilderness with so many predators tracking them?
Smoke signals fill the sky as drums beat like giant heartbeats. The mountain men and the Crow women are urgently called to the big Crow camp by Chief Hachta. What awaits them in the stronghold of over three hundred braves?
