On the inhospitable planet of Danor, the only connection between the cities is a huge network of rails that extend across the surface. WELLI returns from a mission as a mediator in a labor conflict in the Oron mines. Some unknown force leads him to take a shortcut, an old disused rail. WELLY is assaulted in an ambush and his vehicle dismantled by some individuals belonging to a society that lives in the desert outside the order of the planetary government which is centralized in the fortress-city called The Nucleo. In this meeting WELLY discovers a renegade society with communist values that rejects the order and system of the planetary government of capitalist structure. This confrontation between these two economic-social systems will cause WELLY an internal conflict which will lead him to make a drastic decision that will put his life at risk. In our interpretation of this story we present the collision of two systems, the Capitalist represented by WELLY and his city Calydon (also called The Nucleus in the context that refers to social order) And on the other hand, Communism, represented by IGON and his brothers The Renegades, descendants of the outcast colony of Wizmo. Two lines of criticism are presented in the narrative: 1. Criticism of the social values of both systems. 2. Criticism of polluting nuclear energy based on uranium as opposed to less polluting energy based on thorium. 1. In the critique of social values, it is shown how both systems (capitalist and communist) have problems in the treatment of citizens and the most vulnerable members of communities. In capitalism we present it in the overexploitation of the working classes, and in communism in the individual freedom and right to property as well as in the brutality of the punishments. 2. In the critique of uranium-based nuclear energy, we present a debate that is current on the use of Thorium as a nuclear fuel that is less polluting but nevertheless not interesting because it is practically not used in nuclear weapons. Corporate and government interests created during the second half of the 20th century justify the refusal to adapt the nuclear energy industry to Thorium because of the cost of adapting the industrial process to this new nuclear fuel, without considering the enormous benefits that Thorium would bring in the medium/long term for humanity and the planet. The confrontation between East and West led by the USA and CHINA is an event that affects us all and the understanding between the two systems is crucial to avoid an armed confrontation. In "RAIL" we present both societies as imperfect systems that have to learn from each other in order to evolve in harmony towards a freer society based on non-polluting energy.
