Synopsis:
In 2022, Caracas Venezuela, Manuel Cavalier is pressured by Marta Marquez, his perfectionist mother, to prepare for an MBA in Oxford University. One day, in a Coffe shop, he’s discovered by the beautiful blonde anime lover, Eugenia Rangel, who happens to be a fan of one unfinished work he published online as an independent and anonymous manga illustrator: Fire King. Although Manuel loved his craft, he stopped creating manga due to her mother’s influence, she regarded his art as something that would bring him no opportunities in life. Regardless, from the moment he met Eugenia, she sets herself the goal of collaborating with Manuel (she’s a graphic designer) and persuading him to finish Fire King by offering him to pay for his plane tickets to Oxford once the story’s finished. Manuel decides to complete the manga, Eugenia visits him every day to help him with the illustrations, they get pretty intimate in the process. Along the way, egocentric Alejandro Magno (Manuel’s cousin) starts visiting them and tries to seduce Eugenia. To make matters worse, our hero faces chronic guilt and shame due to the fact that he’s devoting time to his craft and not to the needed preparation for the graduate program, his mother’s dream for him. Because of the influence of his mother’s ghost and one final a decisive verbal and physical attack by Alejandro that makes him doubt about Eugenia’s authentic interest in him, he decides to severe his relationship with her. In a moment of fear, Manuel tells Eugenia that he won’t finish the manga and that he will go to London to study his MBA. She then revels that she was offered a six month modeling job in Mexico City and that, although she was planning to stay because of their plan to finish the manga, she would now take it and leave Caracas. Feeling full of regret for letting go of the things that made him so happy, Manuel decides to confront his mother’s ghost and give up on his graduate studies abroad so he can dedicate himself on finishing Fire King. He also apologizes sincerely to Eugenia and manages to make her stay with him. Forward six months, Manuel’s manga is published online and it becomes widely popular. He receives an invitation to travel to Tokyo to work with the famous studio A-0 Pictures on animating his story. Manuel asks Eugenia to marry him and they both travel to Japan to start their new life. The story ends with both of them deeply in love having a great time getting around Tokyo.
