About the work
Amanda (12), an orphaned girl, is left behind at her Aunt Eva's (29) and her little cousin Anna's (5) home in a U.S. town near the Mexican border. Peaceful summer is interrupted by the arrival of John (45), a mysterious ex-convict who reveals himself to be Amanda's uncle and with whom she decides to run away to a drag show in Phoenix at the risk of putting her life in danger. Despite her reluctance to return, Amanda must take on her grief in order to heal her ties and come back home.
