About the work
The ability of Dutch youth to change their last name when they reach 18 is the basis of this family screwball comedy in which the youngest child of a Dutch family is turning 18 and her parents - divorced and constantly at each others' throats - are turning her birthday, as they did for her two older brothers, into a nightmare. Each parent has battled the other - and offered lavish gifts and bribes to the child turning 18 to choose their family's last name. But this time around the youngest, in partnership with her brothers, ultimately hatches a new solution when all attempts to get the parents to reconcile and leave the decision to her fail. Will her solution lead to an end of the "turning 18" problem in her family? The answer might be revealed in the sequel: 18.2!
