Mike Hedges was once on the verge of stardom, but his dream got lost along with his first love 25 years ago.
Now he leads a quiet life, working for the local council and spending evenings stargazing in his shed, talking only to his pet chameleon. In search of love and a sense of belonging, he accepts an invitation to the Open Mic night in his local pub. It’s here Mike encounters Sarah. As she sings, he is instantly drawn to her. But Sarah is living with Dave, a manipulative local property developer. He’s also at the performance, watching her while scoping out the pub for redevelopment. As he begins to find his place in the diverse Open Mic community, Mike’s confidence grows and he finally gets back on stage. And that's when things really start to happen.
