About the work
KAY is rude, stubborn, and she’ll hold a grudge against you, even if you’re dead. She’s skint, she can’t find a job, and her main source of satisfaction comes from guessing who the murderer is on Law and Order before Bradley Walsh does. Besides her encounters with the resident (or ‘former resident’) locals, Kay’s life is fairly mundane.
However, everything changes when she meets Maya’s ghost. Appearing in Kay’s bed in the middle of the night, she tells Kay to call the police and tell them her body can be found in the River Tyne. In turn, Kay tells Maya to piss off and let her get back to sleep. Still, through some Patrick-Swayze-style persuasion, Maya persuades a reluctant Kay to make the call. Unfortunately, this leads to Kay becoming the prime suspect in Maya’s murder investigation...
