About the work
The term “resilience” comes from physics. A resilient person is one who has suffered considerably and instead of surrendering to depression, frustration or impotence, recovers emotionally and overcomes adversity. Throughout history, there have been notable cases of resilience: Viktor Frankl, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Edison and Albert Einstein. So, why are not all human beings resilient? Faced with unfavorable circumstances, persons fall into distress, depression and frustration. As motivation, resilience is manifested in a very particular and selective way, in each one. If the degree of depression is high and frustration persists, it is difficult to have a speedy recovery, learn from the failures and take constructive actions to overcome calamities. Resilient people are characterized by being optimistic, flexible, empathic, prone to learn and emotionally balanced. They do not act like victims or obsess over the failures. In addition, they challenge their "comfort zone". We can all build resilience. It's a matter of not giving up and fight for a better future. These attitudes emerge by the need to overcome critical situations. In that sense, resilience is an extraordinary human quality.
