About the work
El presente trabajo versará sobre la composición de la novela histórica centrada en la Batalla de Waterloo, a través de un estudio comparado entre dos obras que escribieron autores desde los dos bandos enfrentados. Estas son Sharpe en Waterloo del autor inglés Bernard Cornwell y, el libro primero, de la segunda parte de Los miserables del autor francés Víctor Hugo. Para ello, se hará un estudio comparativo con las dos novelas mediante: las influencias de la literatura grecolatina, la historia real, género y período, el tiempo y los lugares representados (time and place setting), los personajes y sus modos de narración.
The present essay work will deal with the composition of the historical novel centred on the Battle of Waterloo, through a comparative study between two works written by authors from the two opposing sides. These are Sharpe in Waterloo by the English author Bernard Cornwell and, the first book, from the second part of Les Misérables by the French author Victor Hugo. To this end, a comparative study will be carried out with the two novels through: the influences of Greco-Latin literature, real history, genre and period, time and place setting, characters and their modes of narration.
