About the work
Ron and Olga have an argument after Ron discovers that his mother stole his cheese from the fridge in their hotel room. He freaks out, drags her out and drives her to the shop to buy him more cheese before kicking her out for good.
Still clad in pyjamas, they argue en route, Olga hitting him and causing the car to lose control. The car rams straight into a container on the docks, with Olga and Ron unconscious. They awaken trapped in the dark container. They don’t realise it is on a cargo ship headed for Morocco. Olga confesses to Ron that she lied about his father being dead; he simply left them and lives in France. Ron is furious with her. The two survive on jelly babies and cans of beer they find in the boxes around.
After six days, they arrive in Morocco. Olga decides they can hitchhike their way back home, but despite her flashing her boobs at hooting cars, no one stops until a taxi driver takes them. In Tangiers, Ron takes advantage of the car and earns some taxi fares. They manage to get on board a boat sailing to Spain taking illegal immigrants. Ron tries to help with the rowing, but he and Olga do more damage, hitting babies, men and pregnant women with the oars, as well as creating a hole in the boat. They are promptly kicked off the boat.
Olga and Ron float to Spain. For a while they enjoy the carefree beach life, scavenging food from bins and having a good time. To gain money for their journey, Olga enters them into a karaoke competition which they lose to Paloma despite Olga’s attempt to cheat the audience. Paloma comes onto Ron and offers the two the use of her tent. She forges two passports for Ron and his mother as well and rents them a car for the trip back to England, promising to join them in a couple of weeks.
At the border, Ron and Olga discover hidden cocaine in the car and flee into the mountains. Olga decides they should hike across the Pyrenees to France.
Reaching France, Ron insists they seek his father out. They reach Alfred’s villa in Limoges where he and his new French family greet them. Olga and Alfred’s wife Shanelle take an instant dislike to each other but Ron and Alfred hugely enjoy each other’s company. Despite Alfred’s offer to stay, Ron decides to stick with Olga, and they proceed back home.
Standing in front of their house, they promise each other a fresh start of getting along, with no lies, which compels Olga to admit to lying to Ron about her cancer when he was 14, as she was afraid of him leaving her as Alfred did. Ron is disgusted that she would make him believe such a thing. Olga tries to comfort him, pointing to the bright side that there’s no danger of remission, but as she runs to him, a bus slams into her killing her instantly -- or not.
