About the work
Translation of a novel by Macedonian author Venko Andonovski. Reminiscent of Borges with a mischievous flair, it creates a narratives from imaginary frescoes and features historic characters such as Alexander the Great, Aristotle, Averroes, Isaac Newton, and many more. In a separate fictional footnote section called "Restorations", the author establishes connections among different "Frescoes" and adds thought, depths and additional twists in the plot. Fairly avant-garde and with a distinct souther Balkan flair. Translated by Bojana Stefanovska in February/March 2015, final revision in May 2015.
