The Eternally Practical Way: An Interpretation of the Tao Te Ching

About the work

The Tao Te Ching is a classic Chinese book that has inspired many spiritual seekers. The Eternally Practical Way is a new English interpretation of the Tao Te Ching. In this interpretation, I did not take a literal or word-for-word approach. Instead, I attempted to capture, in English, the meaning behind the words. Of course languages and symbols, be they ancient Chinese or modern English, can only point us towards the way and towards reality. Reality itself is ineffable. In this interpretation, I used the term "aware being" where others have used "sage" or "master." This term includes all beings—human and non-human—and describes our mutual goal of self-awareness or self-knowledge.
