A concrete gown-up mind expected that you’d lie,
while a little girl’s Play-Doh heart molded a silly-soft wish.
The expectation scolded and forewarned,
while the wish pleaded to bloom and exist.
The wish almost -- but could not quite -- drowned out an expected cautionary tale
about the destiny of a cheap amusement park souvenir –
disposable and easily broken.
But Play-Doh hearts by nature refuse defined shapes
and muddle known colors.
And meanwhile, you speak to me of kisses,
and walks, and heartbeats, and wine shared by interlaced souls…
