THE SANDBOX KIDS The story of a group of adorable kindergarten children who have magical adventures in a sandbox. GENRE Puppets and digital animation CONCEPT THE CHARACTERS Each episode is 7 minutes and is structured in three acts: Act 1: Sandbox (2’ – 2’30”) The game in the sand takes form; the environment transforms and the puppets are transported to a different time and place to live an adventure that seems real in their heads but is only possible through their fantasies. Act 2: Different Space (4’) The kids live the main chapter adventure. The world has been transformed thanks to their imagination. They are no longer in the sandbox, but in the interior of a space shuttle, in Egypt in the time of pharaohs, or even in a Jurassic jungle infested with dinosaurs!! In those worlds they will have to fight multiple dangers, confront unknown challenges and discover a ton of new emotions. Act 3: Sandbox (30” – 1’) The kids return to the sandbox, enthusiastic after all they have gone through in their imaginary world. The Sandbox Kids are a group of five-year-old boy and girl puppets that create unbelievable adventures in their magical sandbox. With the use of their special sand molding toys, they can make cars, dinosaurs, castles, famous buildings, other planets, and just about anything one can think of. They then use their imagination, triggered by their creations, to go on amazing adventures.
The show is a combination of animation and live-action puppets. It contains all the wonderful elements of a puppet show with the rhythm and pace of a cartoon, while still strengthening possibilities to cross to all multimedia platforms.
PIPO
Pipo is 5 years old. He is strong and is always attracting attention, especially because he is the biggest of the group. He likes to feel as the leader of the group, even though he doesn´t always accomplish it. He uses his head for everything, even to crack nuts!! He sees adventure where the rest only see danger, especially Max. His need for adventure leads him to conquer space, un-tape a mummy, or even comb a lion, all without a doubt in his big head!
NATI
Nati is also 5 and she is so smart that she can solve the square root of 78.59 without being off too much…ok maybe not that smart, but pretty close! She is actually adopted and was originally born in China. She is used to always being right, and thinks that she is even when the opposite is clear. That is why her friends sometimes think that she is stubborn like a mule! She is, although, the only one capable of establishing peace when the friends fight for the same donut.
FLO
Flo is 4 and he never cries…he is very brave! She can beat anyone to a race, go around earth in a space rocket and play patty-cake with a dinosaur, all without even breaking a sweat. Pipo hates that, but he forgives her because she smells very good. She is also incredibly vain; Flo would be unable to go on a trip to the center of the earth without combining her shoes with her head ribbon!
MAX
Max is 4 years old, almost 5, and his mom is always saying that in him there is a great interior world. He hasn´t found it yet, though. When he grows up, he wants to be an engineer, inventor or build extreme constructions…but only if it is not too dangerous, because everything new frightens him…but he gets over it quickly!
LIA
Lia is only 2 and a half. She is Max´s little sister and she follows him around everywhere, she loves that her big brother is so creative. She still doesn´t speak properly and she likes to play with the big kid´s toys…even when she doesn´t really know what they are for. She doesn´t care, all she wants them for is to play with Pepona, her inseparable doll.
STRUCTURE
The children play in the sandbox with different sand molding toys. The figures they create with sand blocks inspire the start of an adventure, which will be canalized through the children´s imagination.
