About the work
Un gruppo di persone decide di occupare una piattaforma in mare aperto dove gettare le basi per la nascita di uno Stato indipendente. Per anni restano in questa dimensione sospesa tra realtà e sogno e se in un primo momento erano oggetto di attenzione da parte delle autorità e di curiosità da parte della gente comune, oggi si ritrovano in tre, due uomini e una donna, ad essere dimenticati e lasciati alla deriva su questa sorta di continente artificiale.
L’isolamento e la tenacia nel portare avanti il loro compito li porta ad abitare questo spazio lasciando che i ricordi, le irrequietezze, il gioco, la noia e le frustrazioni prendano il sopravvento chiudendoli in un immaginifico microcosmo popolato dalle pagine di un romanzo ed arrivando, infine, ad intravedere la balena bianca, simbolo dell'inconoscibile, delle paure ancestrali e degli aspetti oscuri dell'uomo. La balena come possibilità di aprirsi un varco e fuggire da quel sistema e, soprattutto, dalla molesta presenza dei “Vuoti d’aria” che, unica macchia sulle loro coscienze, li avrebbe condotti alle bestialità dell’essere umano.
Una scelta drammaturgica ironica, a tratti divertente, con risvolti profondi e toccanti, porterà attori e spettatori verso l’analisi di uno dei molteplici orizzonti di contemplazione del capolavoro melvilliano, quello del lettore sedotto e visionario.
A group of people decide to take up a platform in the open sea where lay the foundation for the creation of an independent state. For years remain in this dimension suspended between reality and dream, and if at first were the subject of attention by the authorities and curiosity on the part of ordinary people today find themselves in three, two men and a woman, to be forgotten and adrift on this sort of artificial continent.
The isolation and tenacity in carrying out their task leads them to inhabit this space letting the memories, the restlessness, the game, boredom and frustrations get the better of locking them in an imaginative microcosm populated from the pages of a novel and arriving finally, to catch a glimpse of the white whale, a symbol of the unknowable, of ancestral fears and dark aspects of man. The whale as a chance to break through and get away from that system and, above all, from the troublesome presence of "air voids" that only blot on their consciences, would lead them to the bestiality of the human being.
A choice dramatic ironic, sometimes funny, with implications profound and moving, will lead actors and spectators to the analysis of one of the multiple horizons of contemplation of Mellville's masterpiece, seduced by the reader and visionary.
