Con esta cita del poeta árabe Ben-al-Hamara, que da nombre a la obra, se abren las puertas de una extraña e hipnótica sucesión de parajes orgánicos. El influjo andalusí va implícito en los dos instrumentos, que circularmente se comunican frente a frente, como si de dos espejos mágicos se trataran. Esta guitarra es clásica y contemporánea. Destila rock y recita en alto flamenco. Este piano es oscuro y romántico. En un momento es agua subterránea, en otro el corazón de un niño, ventanas a mundos diminutos, el galope atronador e irreversible de avanzar sin miedo hacia la muerte. Todo confluye finalmente en un apasionada confesión interrumpida con violencia por la batalla que anuncia el no ser.

Nycticorax es una percusiva obra para piano a 4 manos, donde el 75% del tiempo los dos ejecutantes actúan dentro del piano, en contacto directo con los bordones. Contínua variación en el flujo rítmico que proviene del antiguo martinete flamenco, incluyendo un magistral "zapateado con los nudillos" de Jorge Gijón, que junto conmigo dió vida a este fascinante pájaro-obra.
