"The Wrong Table" is a fiction novel written by Armando Acosta Ayala, in which the author narrates the life of José Alberto (Gaizka), the son of a recently arrived Spanish family in Mexico City, of good social standing, and a fan of bullfighting. After a failed marriage, he is determined to take control of his life again. He lands a job at an international company, but unexpectedly Celeste crosses his path. This relationship causes him problems at work and ultimately unleashes the hatred of a satanic cult that has been seeking the girl since her childhood. During a romantic evening, the couple encounters a fortune teller who joins their table without consent; through a love ritual, they are led to the leader of the cult. Bloody events and satanic rituals unexpectedly enter their lives after their encounter with the mysterious woman. A story set in one of the most emblematic neighborhoods, full of urban legends, in the heart of Mexico City.
"The Wrong Table" is a story set in the 1990’s, a time when the disappearance of people and the theft of children was rampant, especially in marginalized neighborhoods of the city. Numerous religious cults made their appearance throughout the country. Rumors and speculations about their abuses and extortions became reality thanks to anonymous reports of the mistreatment and humiliations suffered by their members. At the same time, even more radical sects began to emerge, where sacrifices of animals and people were commonplace. Evil walked with impunity through the streets of the country.
