Cosmic Envy introduces the viewer to the confrontation between two human species (the True Ones vs. the Sapiens), and a third species that is relegated to the lowest place (the Nenius) of society. This conflict takes place on planet Earth from year 3000 and beyond. In the future, an unavoidable clash between a theocratic nation that is dependent upon technology and a civilization that makes excessive use of genomics to modify their genetic inheritance will come to pass.
Throughout this story, the spectator will be able to appreciate the diversity of species that was the result of the genetic engineering made by the self-proclaimed Sapiens, after thousands of ecological niches were left empty because of a pandemic that decimated most mammals on Earth. The spectator will also get to see how this event contributed to form a new world order to face the crisis. The only goals of these dominant groups are to control everyone else and to conquer the universe, a universe which they wrongly believe to be uninhabited.
An extraterrestrial species has managed to identify the elusive crossings in time-space: the eligos, which they use on Earth to research technological developments in their own time-space, because—as they are mere intruders in this dimension—altering historical events is impossible for them. They have need of “ship-suits,” the kirasos, a cyto-armor that allows them to use the eligos to enter another dimension. For centuries, this extraterrestrial species has been hidden from everyone. They have manipulated the strings of confrontation and betrayal, so both dominant human species ultimately destroy themselves, and the extraterrestrials can swoop in and deliver a final blow.
Among the three main characters, the first is August Herryman, a conflict mediator from the Bahá’í community. He not only seeks to make peace among the humans, but also within himself, after living through countless situations, which he has survived thanks to his beliefs.
The second character is another conflict mediator, a young man from the Quaker tradition: Enzo Azamat, who will take the place of Herryman after the latter is kidnapped. Azamat insists that both groups in power must respect the right to exist of the ill-treated Nenius in the year 3785.
.
The third character calls himself Tertremo. This traitor of his own dimension and species is looking for recruits in any time-space, or hejmen-tempo, to thwart the invasion of earth by his species in the hands of majoro (commander) Damo in the 70th century, year 7000.
He will recruit Enzo Azamat in the year 3875 using half-truths, so Azamat can help him stop the invasion.
All the rational species that appear in the course of the story let the worse and best of them shine through, as they believe they are alone, while the “other universe” has watched, admired, and envied them for a long time.
