Synopsis
Somewhere in time Luis Prince sits alone in his recently purchased flat, watching various tellings of chaos and gore on his television. Luis lives in a state of complete isolation, and apart from his deep childlike tendencies from time to time,he now has nothing else to sink into at this stage of life but the 7 screens that broadcast paid nonsense in his living room. And today, these screens are selling him something. An advertisement comes on the screens offering Luis freedom. A corporation titled “Free Your Mind Lib-A-Dee-Dop-Doo” offering a sort of screen therapy. Promoting freedom from all the screens in his life, and potentially freedom from his internal misery as well.
On the screen a literal commercial pimp attempts to sell Luis this dream of being released from the daily mind-numbing nothingness. Halfway through the cheesy ad filled with gimmicks, Luis’ 7 screens are all cut off. A message from the Registration Ministry, displaying a message that demands Luis get registered in order to continue to watch the programming.
Luis grabs his belongings, including a pillow from his childhood stained from years of use, and heads out the door. Out in the world, sidewalks and streets are replaced by thick tropical trees and dense foliage, as Luis makes his way through the outdoor jungle of the world. As he attempts to make his way to the registration building he loses his way and tries to ask for help. All of his fellow fashion forward citizens, resembling birds, and exotic animals have no chance of understanding him. They crawl out of his way, squawk and make strange noises in response, as we see that Luis has also lost a basic form of communication with those who surround him. Here in the foreign landscape that luis calls home he see a familiar face. The ad man from the television earlier, now dressed differently. After approaching him, the ad man relieves Luis’ burdens by certifying his registration papers and handing him a brochure, once again advertising the Corporation from before. Luis stands alone in the empty forest.
After getting home, luis calls the number, the voice on the other line already knows his name, and sends someone over to pick up him up. At the door is a little boy, who reminds Luis greatly of himself when he was younger. He places a few tropical palm leaves over his face and transports him to the facility, where Luis is left alone.
At the facility Luis is greeted by a receptionist with caked on layers of makeup, from there Luis goes through a series of hallways, directed by the voice of head of operations at the facility, Lucie Reapsid. Luis places on the facility robes, takes his pillow with him, and enters his patient room.
Unknown to luis he is watched during his rehabilitation by doctors John Shed and Marco Vani. At the beginning of his stay, Luis attempts to show signs of growth and improvement, a lie he tells himself. Marco watches Luis intensely through a different arrangement of 7 screens as Luis falls into his decent, and unbeknownst to Marco, he is watched by John and Lucie. The two spiral further and further down the rabbit hole, as Luis deals with his new form of suffering, losing his pillow and having a nightmare that seems to cryptically tell of his demise. Marco falls through a similar decent as he watches Luis suffer through his screens, and as he is seemingly lead by his teammate John Shed to continue. After Luis’ complete spiral in to what seems like a suicide of the soul, the patient room is empty, John runs into the room to find the patient and has no luck. Marco never leaves his screens.
The camera moves back from Marco’s view to show a tv show, continuing the story that just unfolded. Keys jingle as a familiar voice welcome’s Luis to his brand new flat. The same flat of Luis’ from before, currently unfurnished. We recognise the Ad Man as he turns on the TV for Luis, making sure Luis makes himself at home.
