The purpose of this Final Major Project (FMP) is to analyse the problems with the reception
of the ‘Impossible Theatre’ of Federico García Lorca on the British stage through the study of the
‘Impossible’ plays: The Public (1930), When Five Years Pass (1931) and Comedy Without a Title
(no date). The present FMP will use Lorca’s incomplete play, Comedy Without a Title, as a case
study, proposing the translation of the manuscript from Spanish to English and the adaptation of
the aforesaid text to the British Stage. With this practice, the present FMP aims to identify the
problems and difficulties when staging an ‘Impossible’ play in an international theatrical panorama for a multicultural audience.
