En cada capítulo se analiza una o diversas composiciones, y se investigan sus razonas motivadoras, aportando las pistas necesarias para entender mejor y disfrutar plenamente de las audiciones seleccionadas; para ello contaremos, en numerosos casos, con la inestimable ayuda de los comentarios realizados en exclusiva por parte de sus autores o intérpretes, figuras estelares o de primer nivel en el vasto universo jazzístico. Adicionalmente, en cada episodio se realiza un retrato, unas veces liviano, otras más profundo, de la trayectoria vital, profesional y discográfica de sus músicos protagonistas, con especial énfasis en ciertas figuras contemporáneas quizás no muy conocidas, pero igualmente trascendentes, influyentes o relevantes.
