We'd been traveling for a while and she hadn't woken once. I calculated she would at any moment, while Tomo said it was my fault, that I should have “foreseen it”. The truth is we hadn't noticed she was there, and I don´t know if it was the necessity that made us be aware of it, but before I attempted to lift the baby to put her to my breast, Orev took the child and latched her on to her nipple. The girl sucked and sucked, and the milk dripped from the corner of her mouth. And I, that the night before blamed her for so many things trying to justify my desire to not see her, my lack of interest, my pain for the distance, for having grown up and no longer being together, for the husbands that interposed and didn't let us be kids, play in our room upon waking, do houses with chairs and blankets, and drink our milk before school.
