We thought that physical reality was known and tangible, but it turns out that it is unknown and intangible. This changes the definition of what is reality. Knowing, for example, that all matter is 99.9999999% empty, electromagnetic fields and energy changes the range and types of possible interactions with our environment and even with our physical body.
We believed that individual reality was rational and conscious, but it turns out that it is emotional and not conscious and that will radically change the theoretical and therapeutic models of Psychology, Pedagogy or Psychiatry, as well as our conception of the nature and foundations of the relationships we have with ourselves and with other people.
We believed that social reality was objective and certain, but it turns out that it is arbitrary and manipulable and that changes the formulation of concepts such as truth or social justice and pushes for changes in educational models and social organization. Collaboration and not competition is the social strategy that has triumphed in the history of the evolution of all non-human organisms. Complex organic life appeared when prokaryotic cells learned to cooperate and evolved into eukaryotic cells. In the same way, when individuals learn to cooperate, we will be able to evolve from individuality to humanity.
The central thesis of the book «The Wisdom of Not Knowing» is that the lack of updating knowledge keeps us in a belief system that was in force according to the scientific paradigm of the early twentieth century, but which is now obsolete and makes it difficult for us to make the evolutionary leap. and incorporate the behavioral changes necessary to get out of the delicate moment in which humanity is now.
False beliefs, based on out-of-date scientific knowledge, configure a limited and erroneous image of the three realities in which a human being lives immersed: physical, individual and social reality.

This outdated knowledge pushes us to live in a fantasy that simplifies and distorts our vision of the reality that surrounds us and our role as individuals and as a species. They limit our understanding of our true potentials and from there we can design a more efficient interaction with ourselves and with our environment.
If we update knowledge, incorporate it into educational content and make the corresponding adjustments in social behavior, a time of transformation and hope can undoubtedly open up.
To take an evolutionary leap we do not need new disruptive discoveries. What we basically need to do is less in almost everything and according to what we already know and do not integrate into our daily lives.
From the beginning of the 20th century until now, the natural and social sciences have made discoveries that have verified that the three realities in which we live: physical, individual and social reality, are much more complex than we thought. The conclusion is that the answer that science can give to the absolute majority of big questions is «I don't know».
In my opinion, if we update our knowledge about what we don't know and integrate the knowledge we already have, humans have a historic opportunity to make an unprecedented evolutionary and conscious leap.
