These past days I travelled in train through Belgium and recorded a few images, that I wanted to put music on. I have been experimenting with the new automation features from the Deluge (the community firmware is great), and also working to have less elements in my songs, Trying to be as minimalist as possible, but at the same time being able to keep interest during the whole song is a difficult balance.

I made this song with the new Deluge Community Open Source Firmware. New features I used are the Grain FX (it's like having granular texture Mutable Instruments Beads inside the Deluge) on the first track and fill mode to get some variation for some tracks manually pressing the sync scaling button. There are lots of new features but I restricted myself to these, to learn little by little. I play piano in some parts with my old Kawai upright.

Fifth in the series on "The poor man's OP1". I am using the Dirtywave M8 Tracker and a Casio VL-Tone VL-1. In this series I make music with portable little setups to replicate the experience of playing a Teenage Engineering OP1. This is just for fun, don't take it too much seriously. I have never owned or played an OP-1, but I would love to try it. All the sounds are from the M8 Tracker and a Casio VL-1, played live using the computer as a tape recorder and FX mastering device. Dirtywave M8 Tracker is portable like the OP1 and very powerful. I am using here the built-in FM synth and some drum samples. The M8 has a premium sequencer with parameter locks, probabilities, randomness,... The Casio VL-Tone is used to play counter-melodies with the "Fantasy" and the "Flute" sounds and I am using UVI Sparkverb for reverb and Opal for compression.
