Rico McPato es uno de los personajes más conocidos y populares de Disney, quien tiene cierto aire de simpatía, y a la vez cuenta con facetas ocultas (posee carencias emocionales y problemas familiares), no puede disimular su mal humor y trata mal a la gente. Incluso a pesar que McPato es astuto, audaz y hábil, y aparenta ser feliz, en la práctica no lo es. Más bien, él ha perdido el rumbo de su vida, casi nada lo satisface, sufre de cierto nivel de frustración, resentimiento y depresión, y es un adicto al trabajo, padeciendo de burn-out y de insatisfacción crónica, no se contenta con sus nuevos logros y siempre está buscando más y más negocios lucrativos. Más que un triunfador, McPato es una víctima, quien no es resiliente, y no ha podido encontrar el significado de su vida ni dirigirla para alcanzar la felicidad.
