Respectful parenting is part of the ancestral wisdom of indigenous societies in the Amazon. 'Naju Doesn't Want to Sleep' is a tender tale that brings people of all ages and cultures closer to that ancient wisdom, while also adhering to the principles of the Montessori method of early childhood education."
Beatriz Bermúdez Rothe, inspired by the respectful upbringing she learned from the Ye'kuana women and their families in the Venezuelan Amazon, narrates simply one of the rites of passage of this indigenous people.
The illustrations are by Yanira Calvo Torres, a young artist from Navarre, who, with a mixed technique that simulates sgraffito, brings Naju and his adventure of growing up to life.
