SINIOPSIS BANANA The Adventures of Detective Banana Log line The city of Bellville, the world´s most civilized city is threatened by an unfriendly citizen…will detective Joe Banana be able to stop this troublemaker? Target: +7-years-olds & adults Format:52x11’ Genre: Crazy comedy Technique: 2D Animation Synopsis A mysterious criminal is terrorizing Belleville, the world’s most civilized city. His talent for encouraging minor infractions like littering, jaywalking, and stepping on “Do Not Step!” signs has brought life to a standstill. Every crime is so skillfully executed that the only evidence authorities ever collect is the unusual signature he deliberately leaves at the scene to panic the town’s citizens further: a banana. Only one man stands a chance of stopping the sneaky criminal - Detective Joe Banana. With the help of his girlfriend, Tina, and their young friend, David, the detective patiently unravels the mystery behind every crime. However the true criminal remains laughing in the shadows… Origin Ever since Joe Banana´s father, retired Detective Jim Banana, put the town’s last criminal behind bars years ago, Belleville’s residents have boasted of their city’s safety. Life is so orderly and the townspeople so well behaved, simply yawning without covering one’s mouth incurs indicting stares and grumbles of disapproval. But now, that tranquility has its days numbered. Is it an urge for revenge? Fame? Who is behind the mess? The answer is not entirely clear…the bananas are indeed deceiving… although they do have a ton of potassium, which does help the brain. Bellville´s fragile harmony It would seem foolish that a city with no crime would need the services of a private investigator. Yet crime hides behind every corner, blended among the civilization, chaos being a constant threat. You need trained eyes to detect them. In a city where misconduct no longer exists, a city that proudly claims the “Safest city in the World” title, any offence, no matter how small or absurd, can originate turmoil. That is because the most civilized people are also the most vulnerable. They consider jaywalking as an attempt against cohabitation and the Bellvilleeno who actually witnesses such behavior can suffer from an acute heart attack. One time, someone jaywalked near a school´s entrance and there were eighteen swoons… at least. If on top of that, the criminal is gone from the scene faster than a toupee on a windy day, or is capable of encouraging such behavior on the rest of the townsfolk, then the situation is close to apocalyptic. This is where Joe Banana comes into play. Someone has to fight such atrocities; no one else in Bellville is ready for such an unrivaled challenge, and much less Bellville's own police department. And on top of that, the criminal´s signature statement: a banana! No, that is something that Joe Banana cannot overlook. His fellow co-citizens trust him, the city needs him like it once needed his father; and he will not rest until Bellville lives free of such a heartless criminal. The Genre: Detective Fiction The Adventures of Detective Banana is a detective fiction, but not any ordinary detective fiction; it is the most detectivesque detective fiction detective fiction has ever seen. And there is proof: 1. Not only is mystery music always following our protagonist, it is literally always following him. Behind every corner, next to every crime, Jazz is continuously there to enliven the action in the best way. 2. Detective Banana´s office is black and white; even the people that walk in it turn black and white, as in every decent detective movie out there. 3. The police is always a step behind our star, but of course, Joe Banana does have long legs. 4. The characters use a vast catalogue of set phrases, essential in any detective fiction series, but our characters say them louder and more often. The Audience Kids will have a blast watching the silly adventures of Banana while they receive proper values and practical examples of civility in return. All without recurring to violence or explicit scenes. But that doesn´t mean adults can't find their place in the series. They are actually going to love the ironic tone and the constant winks to film noir, as well as the absurd humor that sprinkles every episode. The Adventures of Detective Banana is a crazy comedy, ridiculous and of absurd humor, with uncountable plot twists and ever-changing structure, full of parody tributes to old crime films. Each episode includes an original song that references the story that is developing, which, together with the jazzy, urban, mysterious, and polished ambiance of the whole series, elevates the soundtrack to a sacred place in the program´s universe.
