For years, aquaristics has moved between two extremes:
constant control or total abandonment.
The MACI method — Integrated Circuit Aquarium Method —
emerges from a simple idea:
an aquarium can stabilize itself if it is allowed to accumulate
biological memory, instead of being constantly reset or corrected.
This book proposes a different kind of recipe.
Not an immediate one.
Not one based on fast results.
But one based on time, accumulation,
and the absence of constant reaction.
Here you will find real cases of densely planted aquariums,
with high animal populations and long periods without structural changes,
where even substrates that were initially inert eventually become
biologically active.
MACI is not low-tech.
It is not high-tech.
It is not Walstad.
It is an integrated system where every element influences the others,
and balance appears when we stop forcing it,
even under conditions that once seemed unviable.
