Deep in the Peruvian Amazon, where the jungle whispers in indigenous languages and ancient knowledge still sets the pace, Georgina Díaz, a 28-year-old midwife from the Asháninka community, embodies the intersection between two ways of healing, giving birth, and understanding health and life. A bearer of her community's ancestral medicinal knowledge and trained as a nurse, she works at the Intercultural Hospital in Atalaya. Every morning, she is in charge of leading the maternity care team, accompanying indigenous women from the moment they arrive until they give birth, respecting their languages, traditions, and decisions.
