Anti
04/02/2021
On 14 November 1973, a group of students seize the
building of the Polytechnic University in Athens,
demonstrating their opposition against the Greek Military
Junta.
In the three days that follow, their actions spur a wave
of defiance, spreading across people from all walks of
life, doctors, workers, parents, pupils, even soldiers in
the army, and climaxing into a massive uprising that
terrified the Regime to such an extent that it resorted
to the most tragic and violent response.
“Anti” follows some of these ordinary people’s stories,
day by day, hour by hour, recording their actions, fears
and inner conflicts as the political events evolve.
Locked in their small worlds, revolving around their
jobs, their families but also their hopes and personal
values, each one of these people will be called to make a
choice, in the midst of a raging violence, insecurity and
spreading rumors.
None of them has a complete view of the events unfolding.
None of them knows what their resistance could achieve.
The only thing they definitely know are the consequences.
Based on real accounts recorded in the historical
archives of the era, “Anti” explores the inner force that
drives some people to act against their personal
priorities, their affections even their sense of survival
because they can’t go against their sense of justice.
